2nd Annual Great Charleston POP OFF
Charleston’s own King of Pops hosted their 2nd Annual Great Charleston Pop Off this past Sunday, with all proceeds benefitting the Green Heart Project. And Charleston – you sure know how to Sunday-Funday, because the event was poppin! More than 500 Charlestonians (with their pups in tow) spent the afternoon hanging out at Holy City Brewing enjoying cold craft beer, live music from from Awendaw Green, good eats from local vendors The Charleston Choo Truck and Outta My Huevos and every flavor of FREE pop you could imagine!
King of Pops generously donated over 1,000 popsicles for the event with flavors ranging from the ever popular Chocolate Sea Salt to blood orange basil (featuring Green Heart garden basil) to their infamous “adult pops” featuring combos like coconut rum and cucumber jalapeño margarita and everything in between. Whatever your pleasure there was certainly a pop (or two) for you! We are so grateful for the tremendous generosity from all the folks at King of Pops Charleston for not only supplying the delicious treats but for helping to make the event a smashing success.
The event was a full on family affair with a Charleston Fun Factory ‘Kid Zone’ boasting of three jump castles and slides. And we didn’t forget about the big kids either…the event featured a corn hole tournament, NFL steaming zone, popsicle eating contest, and a Best of Charleston Raffle with over $3,000 dollars in prizes from various businesses around the Lowcountry. Some lucky winners walked away a beach cruiser, season tickets to a local theatre, paddle boarding on Shem Creek for two and more. We want to thank all of our raffle sponsors who so kindly donated such awesome swag for the event benefiting The Green Heart Project.
And of course, these events would not be possible without the help of our volunteers who so generously donate their time to help out and make sure the event goes off without a hitch.
Thanks so much to everyone who helped to make this event happen, attendees, volunteers, contributors and our sponsors, Benefit Focus and Charleston City Paper. Not only was it a poppin’ time, but for a good cause as we were able to reach our goal and raise over $2,500 for the Green Heart Project!
We could not have asked for a better day and are already counting down the days until next year. To get your pop fix in the meantime, be sure to visit one of the many King of Pops locations around town and pick up a tasty frozen treat
