Good Bug, Bad Bug Garden Exploration
TODAY’S LESSON- GOOD BUG, BAD BUG GARDEN EXPLORATION
LESSON CONTENT: In today’s lesson, we will join Green Heart Project Farm to School Program Coordinator Allie and Garden Coordinator Rachel for a garden exploration activity focused on bugs!
In this lesson, students will:
- Define the word ecosystem and understand what makes up our garden ecosystem
- Learn the role of insects in our garden ecosystem
- Learn the difference between “good” bugs (those that benefit our garden) and “bad” bugs (our garden pests)
- Identify a variety of insects found in one of our Green Heart gardens and determine whether the insects that are found in the garden are good bugs or bad bugs
MATERIALS: For today’s lesson you will need:
- A computer, iPad, phone or other digital device to watch the video
- Your listening ears
- A pen or pencil and piece of paper, if available, to make a T chart to track the results of our exploration
- Coloring utensils if you want to draw and color the insects that we explore
Time to start exploring!
