In Bloom: The Newest Garden from The Green Heart Project!

We’re excited to share some big news with you finally – Singleton Park Garden is officially open! This isn’t just another garden for us – it is a major milestone in our 10-year partnership with Meeting Street Academy, and we’re thrilled to welcome you to see what we’ve been cooking up with some incredible partners in the community.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Singleton Park Garden is the result of some serious teamwork. We couldn’t have brought this vision to life without our amazing partners: the City of Charleston Parks Department, Meeting Street Academy, the Charleston Parks Conservancy, and the creative folks at Clemson Architecture Center’s CommunityBuild Program. With everyone working together, we’ve built something that’s not only beautiful but also purposeful, creating a space for our community to learn, grow, and connect.

A Garden Like No Other

Singleton Park is packed with features that make it an incredible place for learning and gathering. There’s a beautiful wood-framed pavilion and a shaded area where everyone can come together, whether for a lesson, a chat, or just to relax. The garden has a comfy, padded floor for students to sit on during outdoor classes, and a rainwater collection system that’s as cool as it is practical. It doesn’t just collect water – it filters it too, giving young gardeners a hands-on look at sustainability in action.

The garden is also fully wheelchair accessible, making it a welcoming space for everyone. And with a wash basin right on site, fresh-picked produce can be rinsed and enjoyed immediately. Singleton Park isn’t just a garden; it’s a full-on outdoor classroom and a community space built for connection, learning, and growth.

Singleton Park, nestled in downtown Charleston, brings a touch of greenery and a sense of purpose to the community. Designed especially for students, it offers them a unique space to learn and grow. Adding both beauty and meaning to the neighborhood, this garden truly enhances the heart of the area

This garden represents everything Green Heart has learned over the past 15 years. Every little lesson, every past garden, every community connection – it’s all here, coming together in Singleton Park. We’re calling this garden our “new standard” because it’s the best of what we’ve done so far, and it’s only going up from here!
