Green Heart’s Year in Review: Fruitful, thanks to YOU!

As 2024 comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on a year filled with growth, connection, and accomplishments – none of which would have been possible without your support. From groundbreaking moments to community milestones, here’s a look back at what we’ve achieved together this year.

Planting New Roots: Our Growing Garden Network

This year, we broke ground on not one but two new gardens! Singleton Park Garden, our most ambitious project yet, opened in downtown Charleston, offering students and community members a beautiful space to learn, gather, and grow. With features like a wood-framed pavilion, rainwater collection system, and wheelchair accessibility, it sets a new standard for our gardens. Over in Mount Pleasant, we also brought a new garden to life at Mount Pleasant Academy, creating even more opportunities for hands-on learning and outdoor engagement.

Celebrating a Decade of Partnership

2024 marked a huge milestone: 10 years of collaboration with our friends at Revelry Brewing. From supporting our mission to lending their space and spirit, Revelry has been a key partner in helping us cultivate meaningful change in the community. Here’s to the next decade of growth and friendship!

A Bountiful Harvest at the Urban Farm

Our Urban Farm Program had a record-breaking year! At the Urban Farm at Enston Home, we produced 6,696 pounds of fresh food, distributed 19,502 pounds of produce through our pay-what-you-can farm stand, and provided essential access to healthy, affordable food for our neighbors. This program thrives thanks to over 300 volunteers who dug in alongside us – we couldn’t have done it without you.

Teaching and Growing Together

Our Farm to School Program reached new heights, supporting 19 school partners with garden programs across the Charleston area. Together, we delivered 422 lessons to 2,516 students, helping young minds grow as they explored the joys of gardening and healthy eating.

Our Youth Development Program also continued to make a difference, engaging 17 high school and college students in paid internships. These future leaders gained hands-on experience in farming, gardening, and community service, learning invaluable skills while giving back to the community.

Celebrating Success at the Farm to Table Dinner

Our annual Farm to Table Dinner was a smashing success, bringing the community together to enjoy a delicious, locally sourced meal while raising funds for our programs. With your support, we’re building stronger connections and planting the seeds for an even brighter future.

Growing Our Team

This year, we welcomed 3 new team members and 4 new board members into the Green Heart family. Their passion and expertise have helped us expand our impact and dream bigger than ever before.
