The Green Heart Beet: Marching right along 🌷
Connection. Responsibility. Leadership. Community. In close out interviews with our Summer 2024 Youth Interns, these were some of the most repeated themes when asked what they got out of their employment. As an educational program, our Youth Development Programs provide tangible, hands-on learning opportunities in areas like urban farming and cooking. But we also repeatedly see that employment in our gardens bears fruits far beyond practical knowledge. We see meaningful impact on behaviors, habits and our interns sense of belonging:
“Being out here has really improved my self worth and how I think about myself.”
“It was very interesting and opened my palette to different things.”
“We built a really tight community by the end of the summer.”
As we look ahead to summer 2025, we are once again hiring and seeking inspired and passionate young adults to join the Green Heart team and create their own experiences learning, growing and connecting as part of our community:
High school students are invited to join our 6-week paid Summer Youth Internship Program as Crew Members. Engage in urban farming, learn about sustainable agriculture, and contribute to your community. This is a chance to develop valuable skills, make new friends, and earn while you learn. Apply now.
We’re excited to offer a 1-year, full-time Young Adult Apprentice position for recent high school or college graduates. Gain hands-on experience in urban farming, community engagement, and nonprofit operations while developing essential career and life skills. Apply now.
