Read Aloud of “Runaway Tomato”

Happy Monday everybody! Today, we are excited to launch the first episode of our new online learning series called Green Heart at Home. All Green Heart at Home videos and resources will be posted to our blog and all Green Heart at Home videos will be compiled on The Green Heart Project’s YouTube Playlist titled “Green Heart at Home.”

TODAY’S LESSON- Read Aloud with Ms. Amanda: Runaway Tomato

LESSON CONTENT- In today’s lesson, we will join Green Heart Project’s Program Director Amanda for a read aloud of one of her favorite tomato-focused books “Runaway Tomato” by Kim Cooley Reeder. 

While we read along with this story, students will learn: 

• The 5 basic needs of a plant;
• Parts of a plant; and 
• An easy homemade tomato sauce recipe! 

Students will also be asked to make predictions, answer questions, and reflect on what we are learning.

MATERIALS- For today’s lesson you will need:

• A computer, iPad, phone or other digital device to watch the video
• Your listening ears
• A pen or pencil and piece of paper, if available
