Spring Bloom Poetry
Though for many of our Charleston County School District students it’s Spring Break, our gardens are in full bloom and we’re feeling creatively inspired by the sounds, sites, and smells of spring!
TODAY’S LESSON- Spring Bloom Poetry
LESSON CONTENT- In today’s lesson, we will find inspiration from the spring season and use this inspiration to create some “Spring Bloom Poetry.” In this poetry activity, students will:
- Learn 4 different types of poems: acrostic, Haiku, concrete and free verse
- Brainstorm a word bank of garden-inspired nouns, verbs and adjectives
- Use their word bank to write and illustrate spring inspired poems
LESSON MATERIALS– For today’s lesson, you will need
- A pen or pencil
- Paper
- Any arts and crafts supplies that you have available (i.e. markers, crayons, paint)
